That’s definitely what makes Black Mirror so compelling. Unlike a lot of science fiction, I can buy into the Black Mirror premises without blinking. It’s the same way that 1984 and Brave New World have resonated for so long. We don’t have to try too hard to see a path that gets into that particular brand of distopynism.

I’ll be interested to see if Black Mirror sticks around as a new “classic” of the genre. I could easily see college classes one day studying it as an example of the form.
