Thanks for writing this, Laurie. My wife and I marched in Atlanta (along with 60,000 others), and this so perfectly captures what the experience was like. For many of the people I spoke to, this was their first real political action ever. That ranged from 80+ yr olds to parents who brought their kids along “to be a part of history”. One woman on the train home made the comment that she’d “never had a reason to really march before”. But she was beyond ecstatic to have marched this time.

I hope that this is a wake-up for a lot of people on both the left and what remains of the center. It’s hard to build a coalition, but if we don’t stand up together to be heard, our collective voices are easy to steamroll.
